Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre Refurbishment commissioned by the New Shakespeare Company
In a seamless collaboration, Camlin Lonsdale and Haworth Tompkins wove a new costume for the theatre in which vegetation becomes architecture and buildings grow as living things. Where the stimulation of a performance was once counteracted by the experience of leaving the theatre grounds through a cluttered car park, a range of sensitive yet assertive proposals now ‘amplify’ the memory and releases it into the London night. The most telling sign of success is that newcomers enter a timeless world that seems to have been there forever.
